Pleated Skirts For Fall & The Holidays

Have you ever put on a piece of clothing before and been like this was made for me?  That’s how I feel about this pleated skirt style.  When I was planning my outfits for NYFW I was looking for an item that had a wow factor but wasn’t too expensive.  While scouring the Shopbop Site I discovered this gem of a skirt.  Convinced that it couldn’t be that cool at only $100 I decided to order it anyway.  Wellllll, I was wrong.  I loved the gold color so much – see the full post here – that I went ahead and ordered it in blue as well!  At the Refinery29 29Rooms Party someone actually came up to me and asked where I got it.  Her response was I need to buy it because that is the number one trend I have seen at fashion week: pleated skirts.  Here is why I love and why you should too!

Why I’m Loving Pleats

  1. Versatile – Easily transition from day to night.  Here is how you make that happen:
    1. Simply, swap out strappy sandals for comfortable sock booties for daytime.
    2. Slinky tanks get replaced with comfy sweatshirts for morning meetings.
  2. Comfortable – Elastic waistband for the win!
  3. Chic – As mentioned above they are super on trend right now.
  4. Simple – I consider it a statement piece so the rest of your outfit can be easy and low key.  Less maintenance = less time spent getting ready.
  5. Affordable – My pleated skirt is evidence that you don’t need to spend alot to get a return on investment.
If this metallic style isn’t for you – don’t worry!  I selected a few additional styles all of which are equally chic, versatile and affordable!

My Favorite Pleated Skirts

Another inexpensive and affordable option.  Accordion pleats send swirling movement through this STYLEKEEPERS skirt. Gently curved hem and a elastic waistband make it chic and comfortable.

Vince Camuto Lacquered Pleated Skirt

In the a rich berry hue this skirt looks and feels more expensive than it really is.  At only $99 which endless amounts of styling options this skirt is a must-have.

BP. Pleated Midi Skirt

A versatile basic at only $55 this style is a must-have.  I actually own it and love it.  It runs slightly large so size down if you decide to make the purchase.  This is the item to buy if you want to test out the waters.  An inexpensive closet staple that has endless styling possibilities – sign me up!

Rippling accordion pleats accentuate the shimmering silver stripes of a below-knee-length skirt in a classically feminine A-line cut.  Date night – done!  Love it paired with a simple tee or strappy camisole.
