Woo-hoo! I am finally back in my skinny jeans and by skinny I mean my favorite jeans – these distressed boyfriend jeans by Rag & Bone Jean. This means that I can FINALLY get back into one of my favorite date night outfits which is:
Distressed Boyfriend Denim + Graphic Tee + Bold Lip + The Highest Heels = My Date Night Style
I can turn this into a typical outfit post and talk about how much I love this super soft tee (obsessed actually) or how often I wear these Stuart Weitzman pumps (it’s true) or I can totally open up about how difficult it was to keep blogging while trying to lose the baby weight. Being that this is a Mom Style Monday post (see below) I feel like I’m probably in good company and my audience can understand and can relate to this struggle. I had anticipated the weight would fall off and I would be back in front of the camera wearing these exact jeans at 4 months postpartum, yet to my dismay, it would be another 3 months before I was even close. It was difficult to continue to blog because my message to women is to be confident, yet I had lost my own confidence in so many ways. Every picture was a side profile to avoid showing the width of my hips or to hide my less than flattering figure. I was afraid to show that I didn’t look like I bounced back to my old self within three months of having a child. The truth is I don’t know if most of us do. However, these past two months I have made some adjustments to help get my confidence back and my body back. I doubled down on the exercise, but more importantly I changed my diet. I have been following Nancy Anderson’s Bible Diet and I’m down 4 pounds in a week!!! I still have a few more pounds to go but I have learned in this journey to stop and celebrate along the way. Not only have I noticed a difference in my clothes but as the weight came off my confidence slowly returned. While, it is not all about the number on the scale it did become about accomplishing a goal and working towards it. As I get closer to my goal I feel a renewed sense of pride and a renewed sense of self.
To all of those struggling to get back to their goal self, whatever that might be, I say give yourself time and stay positive. Set small goals and if you don’t accomplish them take a step back, re-evaluate, re-asses and move forward. (This happened to me, at month 6, I was hovering around 144 pounds and the scale wouldn’t budge so I finally changed my diet and the weight started to come off.) Celebrate the little victories along the way, whatever they might be and keep your eye on the prize. I have learned that there will be ups and downs just like in life but with hard work and determination you can achieve your goals.
So with all of that being said, Mom Style Monday was started by three moms to help inspire women to look good and feel good regardless of what stage you might be in, in your mom bod journey. I have partnered with Mallory Fitzsimmons from Style Your Senses and Cristin Cooper from The Southern Style Guide to bring you our second edition of MSM featuring, date night style.
