While I don’t want to admit it, it is time to start thinking about heading back to school. The slow roll of summer mornings is going to turn back into that frantic pace of rushing out the door. One thing that helps reduce back to school stress is having a few outfits ready on hand. And I’m not referring to the kids. While most of us are wearing leggings and tennis shoes to drop-off its always nice to have the option to throw on a cute outfit if time permits. Keep it simple, comfortable and machine washable with this simple outfit formula:
How to Put Together a Cute Outfit For Back To School
This subtle mini stripe high/low tank is the perfect throw on and go top. The longer hemline allows you to pair it with skinny jeans and still feel covered. If I’m not wearing athleisure, I’m most likely wearing skinny jeans. This white pair is comfortable and slightly stretchy. White after Labor Day not your thing? Try getting the tank in the grey pinstripe and pairing with my favorite high rise dark denim. In the warmer, footwear that slides on is key because most likely your arms are full and who has the energy to tie shoes?! These sneaker slides are super chic and will also look cute paired with a flowy floral dress in the fall.
Finally, the finishing touches, the accessories. While accessories can be skipped if you are in a mad dash out the door I recommend these three pieces to tie your look together: a statement piece of jewelry, dark sunnies and a bold lip. To give the shirt some definition I paired it with a pendant necklace. I love this inexpensive option that feels chic and versatile. These dark black shades feels glamourous even when the person hiding behind them might not feel that way. Oh and did I mention they are only $55?! Last but certainly not least a bold lip and my secret weapon. Laura Mercier’s lip glace in poppy is my red lip of choice. It smells like vanilla and moisturizes your lips. If you prefer something a little more subtle try Supergoop’s lip and cheek tint.
Now that you have your cute outfit go find a cute coffee spot and sip your iced chai latte in peace. Enjoy because you deserve it!
I have linked up with a few of my other favorite bloggers for our sixth edition of Mom Style Monday. If you want to read more about this concept you can read the introductory post here, but in short, it was founded on the premise of inspiring moms to look good and feel good. Mallory Fitzsimmons from Style Your Senses, Cristin Cooper from The Southern Style Guide and I set out to create a destination for women to head when they needed inspiration on how to put together a cute and mom friendly outfit. Check back on the first Monday of each month to see the trend we can tackle or join in on the fun by linking up below.
