After testing out ALL of the strollers at buybuy BABY this is by FAR the best running stroller.
* Thank you to buybuy BABY for partnering with me on this post. All opinions are my own.*
The main concern of so many moms, me included, is getting their body back after having their baby. Once you start sleeping through the night and you start to feel like yourself again – or close to a version of it – you start to think about exercise. While, so many celebrities make it feel like it happens over night we know that it is actually the complete opposite. It is a slow process and we have to fit workouts in whenever we can. Running has always been my exercise of choice and on most days I yearn for those long runs. I hope that by including the girls in my daily runs my healthy habit will rub off on them. In order to include them I needed to find a running stroller that wouldn’t make me feel like I was climbing Mt. Everest with them in tow.
Right after Isabella was born we bought the most expensive running stroller on the market. BIG mistake.
Our old mentality was that most expensive is probably the best. Typical first child mentality, then you live and you learn. Unfortunately, we couldn’t have been more wrong about our purchase and our single running stroller is like pushing around an unwieldy twin bed. So when Summer finally hit the age where I could take her on a run along with Isabella the thought of buying another running stroller seemed worthless. Surely, I couldn’t be the only one who felt this way. However, I constantly saw moms running with single and double strollers all around town and they made it look effortless. So in partnership with buybuy BABY, I set out to find the best running stroller for the parents who love to run.
Typically ALL of our baby needs are met by processing our orders on buybuyBABY.com. We are second time parents who know what they need and who want to avoid the masses at all costs. This time it was different. Our first mistake was a costly one and we didn’t want to make the same mistake twice. We knew we needed an expert’s opinion and we knew where we needed to go to get it.
If you haven’t been to buybuy BABY it is the mecca of all things baby. Every brand, every price point and every single item you would ever need after, and before having a baby exists there. So you can imagine why the thought of heading into buybuy BABY seemed daunting. To be 100% honest it couldn’t have been farther from my experience. Here are my tips on how you can make your next experience informative, streamlined and pleasant.
Call ahead and schedule an appointment with a sales associate.
Ask if there is a specialist available in the department of your choice.
Arrive when the store opens.
If possible do your shopping during the week preferably on Tuesday or Wednesday when traffic is lowest.
Have a list and stick to it. It is easy to drift in their store. Stay focused.
With all of that being said, I was paired with D’Wayne, one of their top sales associates at 9:30 on a Tuesday morning. The store was empty so we were able to talk and test out strollers uninterrupted. D’Wayne walked me through the top sellers and all of their pros and cons. After doing plenty of research online I knew that I would end up purchasing one of three strollers. The three that seemed to be most popular in reviews were also the three that D’Wayne recommended. Not only was D’Wayne well informed but he also didn’t try and sell me the most expensive model. They also let me run up and down the aisles with all of the strollers so I could get a true feeling for the way they each rode.
After 45 minutes of testing out strollers, Summer got antsy so D’Wayne set up a little play area for her right next to the stroller section so I could continue to focus on my purchase. The staff from my experience is also GREAT with kids. An important factor to consider when shopping in a baby store. While she played I tested out, the BOB® IRONMAN Duallie Jogging Stroller, Baby Jogger® Summit™ X3 Double Stroller and the Thule® Urban Glide Double Jogging Stroller. While all of the strollers were comparable in features the Thule won due to a few factors all of which I have listed below. For comparison, I have included dimensions and weight below.
Assembled stroller measures: 50′ L x 43″ H (at handlebar) 25″ W (at the wheels)
An easily adjustable handlebar makes it ideal for runners of all sizes. The baby jogger did not have an adjustable handlebar.
My favorite feature that the other strollers did not have – a large water resistant storage compartment with zip closure. The compartments on the other strollers did not zip closed, which is problematic as things easily fall out when running.
The dual harness buckle and additional padding allows them to feel secure yet comfortable. It is also a one step fold. BOB is a two-step. Anyone with a double running stroller will most likely have their hands full so a quick and easy one step fold is key!
With plenty of pockets in the children’s seats, they can easily store their snacks and toys.
Overall, I couldn’t be happier with my purchase and my in-store experience at buybuybaby. Both D’Wayne and I agreed that the Thule® Urban Glide Double Jogging Stroller was made with the true runner in mind. Just in case you stumbled across this post and thought was is a jogging stroller – here is a great explanation by Runner’s World Magazine.
Bottom line the Thule® Urban Glide Double Jogging Stroller was made with a true runner in mind. Maneuverability, weight and a closed compartment made my selection an easy purchase while buybuy BABY made it an enjoyable one.
