Finally, spring has officially arrived. The weather is still debating whether or not it wants to fully participate in the calendar change but when it does I am ready! My boots have made their way to the back of the closet and I moved my warm weather tops to the front. So to get you ready for the spring season, I have rounded up 7 simple tops all at different price points that will make you ready to embrace the new season. Each style can easily be paired back to jeans.
Before I dive into tops, I would recommend investing in a few foundational denim styles. By doing so this will allow you to easily throw together an outfit. Find styles that make you feel confident and sexy. If you are doubting them in any way – DON’T buy them. There are so many brands out there, so keep trying until you find the right price point, fit and silhouette. If you are like me and have a lower half that is more athletic then you might find success with the brand 7 For All Mankind. I have been wearing them since college and they are still making me feel great a decade later! Here are a few of my favorites styles that will help you build the right denim wardrobe.
Skinny Jeans – Comfortable, stretches, without losing shape/elasticity and is super soft.
High Waist Flare – Comfortable, slimming and the high waist will elongate your legs.
Distressed Denim – Surprising versatile. If super distressed isn’t your thing go for a less repaired style or look for the girlfriend fit.
Step – Hem – Definitely a big trend for spring. I find a more classic wash but I loved this style because they fit well and were really comfortable.
Basic Tee – $32 . I love this style paired with high waisted denim. This tee is a stretchy jersey that washes well and is a very versatile piece. I have done my research in the basic tee department and I LOVE THIS ONE plus it comes in a multitude of colors.
Graphic Tee – $64 – So many options but I love a fun tee paired back to distressed denim with heels. While it may seem like an odd combination it works well. Mixing of feminine (heels) and masculine (bf jeans) is a trend I love.
Top – $88 – Embroidery is a big trend for spring and this top incorporates it in a classic way. I’m always hesitant about under $100 tops because I don’t want them to feel or look cheap but this one is really cute! Off the shoulder continues to trend this season and next.
Eyelet Off the Shoulder Top – $105 – I love wearing bold yellow in the spring and summer and this top feels like the perfect option for happy hour or day at the breweries. Keep the rest of your palette neutral and pair with navy and not black. The bumble bee look is not flattering on anyone.
Pink Boho Blouse – $148 – A pretty boho blouse with lace details or tie accents is always a good closet staple. Pairs easily with skinny denim. I love this style because it comes in three different colors.
Off the Shoulder Top – $182 – This might be a little more expensive but the fabric is a heavy jersey which is flattering and comfortable and its not see-through! I love this style paired with high waisted denim as you can see it creates a long lean silhouette. Clean the rest of your details simple and add a pair of gold hoops and a bold lip to keep the look classic and simple.
Peek-a-boo Top – $220 – A big trend for spring! This top has all of the embellishments a top over $200 should have, embroidery, peek-a-boo details and lots of full ruffles. I love it paired with the denim trend of the season the step-hem. These are by my favorite denim brand, bigger pockets for girls with a booty. Stretchy and comfortable these are definitely worth the investment.
